Looking back at my Skylanders comics, I realized there are a lot of things unanswered, but I need to start doing and creating my own things, rather than creating nothing but fan art. I am a fan of Skylanders, however it is time to do other things. If I do start more Skylanders, it would just be small comic strips. Judging by all the positive feedback I received about how well I portray certain character’s personalities, encouraged me to create my own characters. These Skylanders, in my opinion didn’t have any concrete personalities so I’m happy to give them believable ones.

I first started these Skylanders comics back in May 2012. Before I even started this comic I had only 11 watchers. I’ve only had, on average 15 views. Now I’ve been getting 261 views. This immediately tells me what my primary target market is. Skylanders fans. It also shows how powerful an established franchise can bring. Well, now it’s time for me to create and establish my own franchise. My marketing classes that I’m taking sorta made me think this way.

This doesn’t mean I will completely stop making Skylanders stuff. I just won’t be making any ongoing comics about it. The things that I have learned through college and among other studies I’ve done tell me that life is short. I’ve wanted to self-publish my own book for a long time and I cannot do that with characters that aren’t mine. For now, I’m going to take a break from all this drawing. I’ll probably upload something next friday.
